2 Injured After Moped Strikes Person At Westchester Intersection

Two people suffered injuries after a moped crashed into a person at a Westchester intersection, police said. 

The crash happened at the intersection of Warburton and Ashburton Avenues in Yonkers, police said.

The incident happened on Monday, Dec. 25 around 1 p.m. in Yonkers at the intersection of Warburton and Ashburton Avenues, when a moped driven by one person struck a pedestrian, according to Yonkers Police Detective Sergeant Frank DiDomizio. 

Both the pedestrian and driver were injured in the incident and are now in stable condition, DiDomizio said. 

The incident caused Warburton Avenue to briefly close between Ashburton Avenue and Wells Avenue. 

The preliminary investigation into the crash showed no evidence of criminality, according to DiDomizio, who added that the investigation is still ongoing.
